Johnny Adam Canoe, son of Adam and Jennie (Pettit) Canoe, born March 26, 1950, in Bunch, Oklahoma. Johnny departed this life, surrounded by loved ones, on February 11, 2019, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, at the age of 68 years 11 months and 15 days .
John had a deep love for the Lord. He was a member of the Mulberry Tree Baptist Church where he loved giving his testimony, playing the guitar and singing. John loved fishing, gospel singing and spending his free time with his family and countless friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Leona Snell, Margaret Vann, Caroline Littledeer and Katie Mink; brothers, Daniel Canoe and Leroy Canoe; step-sisters, Ester Sanders and Deborah Wilson.
John is survived by a very loving family that includes his daughters, Darla Canoe and companion Stewart “Mox” Duncan, Daphne Canoe-Catron and husband Jeremiah; grandchildren, Cheyenne Duncan and Justin Catron, Sara Catron, Dwight Catron, Jericho Pettit and Hannah Pettit; great-grandchildren, Blaze Valdez, Lyncoln Valdez, Bosley Duncan and Blue-Jay Catron; sisters, Jennie Taylor and husband Dexter, Mary Canoe-Scott and husband Joe, all of Stilwell, OK.; step-brothers, Edward Wilson, Kenneth Wilson, Timothy Carey; step-sisters, Rena Glenn and Pam Wilson; lifelong best friend and companion, Theresa Rider of Vian, OK. A host of other relatives and many friends also survive him.
