Beverly Ann (Howell) Ketchum

Beverly Ann (Howell) Ketchum, 91, of Sperry, Oklahoma, went to her heavenly home on December 24th, 2020. She was born on April 28th, 1929 to Alva and Cassie (Turney) Howell in Calhoun, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Ketchum; her sister, Mary Rebecca Wilkinson; and her brother, William Harvey Howell.

Beverly was raised and attended high school in Clinton, Missouri, and later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she attended college, majoring in English and joining the swim team. After leaving college, she married and would go on to have two children. In her earlier years, she was an LPN and later worked as a hospice attendant for several years. She later made her living as a clerk in civil service and made her home in several states, including Arizona, California, and Kentucky, before settling again in Calhoun, where she married her husband, Robert Ketchum, on May 27th, 1967. She and Robert remained married until his passing in 2014. After her husband’s passing, she moved to Sperry in 2016.

After she retired, she went on to take up sewing, at which she became quite skilled. She was always an active church member, where she could be found singing in the choir, where she became known for her lovely alto voice, joining the heavenly choir just in time to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Beverly loved clothes and jewelry, and often worked part-time in ladies’ retail, frequently taking advantage of employee discounts. She also adored infants and children, as well as music of all kinds.

She is survived by her daughter, Cassie Parsons, of Sperry, and her son, Kim Ketchum, of Friendswood, Texas.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 29th, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Parsons-Canoe-Beggs Funeral Home in Collinsville, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 30th, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the Parsons-Canoe-Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Daniel Prock officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville.
