Robert David Davenport

R. David Davenport, of Talala, Oklahoma ran into the arms of Jesus on August 15, 2019, at the age of 70, in Claremore, Oklahoma.

David was born to Robert Woodrow and Gladys (Benson) Davenport on June 2, 1949 at McAlester, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, David Brent Davenport and Shawn Parrett.

David grew up in McAlester, Oklahoma, where he later graduated high school. For most of his life, he worked for Wonderbread in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a Shop Steward. During his time at Wonderbread, David met, Judy, the love of his life on February 10, 1986. Unfortunately, Judy was relieved of her duties because of Wonderbread’s policy of coworkers dating each other but that didn’t stop their everlasting love for each other. After ten years of dating, David and Judy were married on February 10, 1996.

He enjoyed anything that dealt with Harley-Davidson or the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association). During his spare time, you could find David tinkering with cars in his garage, mowing, or enjoying an occasional Budweiser. He loved to lounge in his man cave where he watched his NASCAR races.  David never met a stranger.

David is survived by his wife, Judy (Morton) Davenport of the home; son, Shane (Brandy) Davenport of Owasso, Oklahoma; daughter, Stephanie (Jason) Vanstorey of Las Vegas, Nevada; niece, Tammy (Frank) Evans of Coweta, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Gage Davenport, Dnaysia, Breeana, Jasmine and Jayda; great-nieces, Shannon Jones and Megan Evans; great-nephew, Cody Evans and Gage Rains and a host of other relatives and friends survive him. He will be deeply missed by all.

A visitation will be held August 17, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Parsons-Canoe-Beggs Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held August 17, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Parsons-Canoe-Beggs Funeral Chapel with Teresa Sears officiating. Following the funeral service, a committal service will be held at the Indianola Cemetery in Indianola, Oklahoma.
